Blackstone Construction is two cousins and their crew, with more than 11 years on the tools. The same people who measure your job are on site when it is built.
Concrete first. Then the decks came home.
The company started with concrete: driveways, sidewalks, patios and slabs, most of it as the concrete crew other builders called when they had a job that needed pouring. That work ran under the name Ironstone Concrete, and it was steady, because a crew that shows up and pours flat gets called again.
Across the family, the other side was building decks. Different material, same family, same way of working. When the two cousins decided to build under one name, the name had to fit both trades, so Ironstone Concrete became Blackstone Construction: the stone stayed, the decks moved in.
Between them there are more than 200 decks and around 250 homes, almost all of it through other builders and neighbors telling neighbors. This site is the first time the work has had a front door of its own.
Who you actually deal with
The person who comes to the estimate is one of the owners. They walk the yard with you and give ideas at the kitchen table: where the stairs should land, which rail shows the yard, whether a patio beats a deck on your lot. One cousin leads the deck side, the other the concrete. The crew grows to as many as ten on a big job, but the people you talked to are the people running it.
We are based in Philadelphia and work about 40 miles out: Philadelphia and its suburbs, South Jersey, and northern Delaware.

Three rules that cost us money and keep customers

Measured, then priced
Nothing is quoted from a photo or a phone call. The number comes from standing in your yard with a tape, and it comes in writing.

Quality over speed
A deck frame that is square and a slab that is thick enough take a little longer. We would rather be a day slower than come back in three winters.

We come back
If something we built is not right, we fix it. That has been the arrangement with every customer so far, and it is not changing.

About 250 homes so far, and almost every one came from a neighbor's recommendation.
For years the work came through other builders and word of mouth, so there is no review page yet. We are building one now. Until then, the best reference is the one that has always worked: ask us for the address of the last deck we built near you.
